Jump Rock

Surf has yet again been too big for me :) I always test by watching others paddle out. You get a good idea by watching for about fifteen minutes. Visited the family back home right after taking this. Its long weekend.The boet came down from Pretoria, also brought little Zoey with. Havnt seen her in a while, and shes been sick- not in the best mood.

My dad, ben and I are going to East London later, Ben is going to ref a Currie Cup first devision match so we going to watch him strut his stuff.

Still wild

So the surf has still been too wild to surf. Been off from sport this weekend so Ive been wanting to surf all weekend. Only had about twenty minutes before dark on Friday, but since then it has been too stormy for my liking.

So we joined the gym today. Been a looong time since I've had real excersize, and the biggest battle will be to actually fit it into my busy-as-it is schedule!

Looking forward to some alone time- just the Ipod and I.

Seen some amazing waves so far this year! Getting to the other side of winter, so it should be slowing down now. Been really good though! Cant complain!

Ages

Its been ages since I've written something..

First half of the year at my new school, Jeffrey's Bay Primary School is over, and heck it was a busy one!

Trying to balance 600+ learners and the first team rugby of the school has been quite a challenge! I suppose I can only do my best! Its quite tough balancing the two, as they are both very important, and its very difficult (at the moment- hoping things improve in the years to come) to juggle both at the same time! I suppose having high expectations doesn't really help my situation hey!

Anyway enough with the complaining. I am currently on my July holiday. Didn't really have a "holiday"! Most  people think teachers  work from 8-2 everyday and have loads of holidays! This is in fact not the case! Week one of holiday- course. Week 2 of holiday course. And finally week 3 of holiday- ReSt!

In this "rest" period I still practice with my rugby team, and for the rest of the time I'm lazing in the sun at Supertubes watching the pro's do their thing! We've had an amazing run of swell, its lasted three days already and is forecasted to continue for another two days!

Finally Graduating

So I did eventually finish my Honors Degree in Education.

Holiday term 1- 2012

So, First term has come and gone. Its been different,its been weird, its been nice.

Last Friday our rugby team went to play in a tournament in Grahamstown. We played 4 matches in two days. The first against Greame College we drew 10-10. The next against St Andrews College we won 15- 0. The next morning our boys were to play our arch enemies and neighboring school Stulting. We won that match 35-0.OUr last match for the weekend was against Hangklip, which we won 55-0.

So this past weekend we took part in another rugby week. Some of the best primary schools in South Africa played, schools like Eikestad,Florida,Paarl Gimnasium, Paarl Boys, Gene Louw etc.

We played three matches. We lost our first against Hugo Rus from Wellington 12-10, and also our second agains Riebeekstrand from Cape Town 22-12. Atleast our last match went better and we won 7-3.

Lots was learnt, and it was nice to meet so many people that all love the same thing-Rugby

The new life

So three months down this road, one term at school nearly done. Been a really busy 1st term, but been loving it! No more unbearably naughty,disrespectful learners who was busy eating my life away. No more coming home in a bad mood.

Indeed it wont be easy adjusting from teaching high school to primary, but I'm sure I can adjust within no time. Lots to learn, lots of late nights marking books, but I'd take it threefold instead.

I still spare a thought(and a prayer) to my old colleagues who day after day fight to good old fight, trying to make a change in those who so drastically need it. I admit that I could not do it any longer. All respect go out to you guys!
